Building the evidence base

Our Mission

To be a major contributor to actual reductions in alcohol-related harm through our role as the leading independent provider of reliable, research-based evidence to all of the major agencies involved in developing alcohol policy and practice”

We need your help to achieve this Mission. The important work that we fund directly is only a tiny proportion of the alcohol-related studies that are published each year. These are hosted in many journals and libraries across the world.

Alcohol Research UK wants to make it easier for people to find what they are looking for, whether they are an academic, a policy-maker, a practitioner or a lay person. Ultimately, we want to create a single portal through which information about all major studies in the field can be accessed. This is a long-term project but we are making good progress. We are partnering with a number of other organisations so that users of our Alcohol Library can search across several resources at once. We are keen to increase the number of organisations that are prepared to integrate their library with ours.

We’d also like to have both formal and informal agreements to provide research-based evidence to other agencies, to help inform their work.

To talk to us about any of these opportunities, please contact Professor Ray Hodgson, Research Director, via the contact us page.
